Nightmare Storytime #4

July 2016

I was in my room, sleeping, just as I had been when I actually went to sleep. I “woke” and looked over into Moosh’s (my bearded dragon) cage. A cloud of condensation seemed to appear, as if someone was standing right where I was and breathing onto the cage. In the little cloud, fingerprints appeared.

I felt panick rising in my chest and I scrambled back into bed, leaving the lights on, and pulled the covers over my head. After a moment, it felt like gravity was increasing, but only pushing down on my head.  No. Like someone was pushing down on my head. I suddenly got very thirsty and kind of peeked out of the covers to reach for my nightstand when I realized it: the lights were now off.

I sunk back into the covers, peeking out ahead after a minute of fearful deliberating. This time, I could make out an outline of a tall figure standing directly in front of me. My heart lept in my throat as I slowly felt something squeezing it.  I tried to get up and run, but my body was weak from being breathless and from the seemingly heightened gravity.

I woke up gasping for air.
